Before I start, I want to clarify one thing; I’m not speaking on a specific ritual (or form thereof), but on rituals in general. I find that I always receive some sort of message, some influence from the Divine (not necessarily Divine Intervention), that I needed to hear/feel at that moment. I’ll use two examples…
During Litha, my friends and I held a cleansing ritual, because the New Moon happened that same weekend. I consciously knew that I needed this, because I just got out of a bad break-up, and I needed to move on. During the ritual, I definitely felt the hands of the Goddess reach down and remove the illusionary weights off my shoulders (which I’d been accumulating over the span of almost 2 years) and showed me the paths available to me, should I embrace forgiveness. Needless to say, my life improved drastically once I forgave the aforementioned girlfriend.
At Samhain this year, we were instructed to take a handful of dirt as we entered the circle. During the ritual, they said this dirt represents some “wrong” that happened to us, something we’re unnecessarily holding onto. We were instructed to cast aside this dirt, cleanse our hands of it, and we shall receive something in return. I received a stone saying: “Re-member mirth and reverence,” as if saying I need to re-integrate mirth and reverence. For the past few months, I’ve just been going through the daily grind…going to work, taking care of my stuff, blah blah blah. So this was the Deities’ way of saying: “Hey, don’t worry, this is just a ride…so stop worrying, don’t be afraid, have some fun…because…this is just a ride.”
Anyone else have similar experiences they care to share?
